Course Overview:
This self-paced course provides students with an intermediate-level overview of integrating WebSphere Transformation Extender V8.3 with WebSphere Message Broker V7.0. The course focuses on application development using the WebSphere Transformation Extender map node in WebSphere Message Broker message flows.
The course begins with a review of WebSphere Message Broker and WebSphere Transformation Extender, and describes the advantages and additional capabilities provided by the WebSphere Transformation Extender map node in WebSphere Message Broker. Students then learn about WebSphere Transformation Extender for Integration Servers, which is needed for developing, testing, deploying, and running WebSphere Transformation Extender maps within a WebSphere Message Broker message flow.
Students explore how to construct message flows with various configurations, such as using a map node with a single input and single output, using a map node with a single input and multiple outputs, and using a map node with multiple inputs and a single output. The course then explains error handling and troubleshooting techniques in both development and production environments. Finally, students explore a number of advanced topics, such as extending the functionality of the WebSphere Transformation Extender map node using the WebSphere Transformation Extender Resource Registry, using a WebSphere Message Broker message definition file in a map instead of a WebSphere Transformation Extender type tree, and sending data directly to a message flow node from a map rule using the PUT function.
Throughout the course, hands-on lab exercises enable students to reinforce their learning by gaining practical experience with the skills and concepts discussed in the lectures. Topics covered in the hands-on labs include creating and testing message flows with the WebSphere Transformation Extender map node, problem determination, and error handling.
